Nintendo Wii

The Nintendo Wii has revolutionised game consoles with its wireless controller, called the Wii Remote. The Wii Remote can detect three dimensional motion and rotation, enabling a more realistic and active experience for the user. The remote connects to the console using Bluetooth.

The Nintendo Wii is one of the smallest game consoles on the market, and Ninendo's smallest to date, measuring 44 mm (1.73 in) wide, 157 mm (6.18 in) tall, and 215.4 mm (8.48 in) deep.

The Nintendo Wii succedds the Nintendo GameCube and is a direct competitor to Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3.

The choice of the name Wii has received mixed comments. Nintendo has justified many times. Here is an example:

"Wii sounds like 'we', which emphasizes that the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii"

Up to the year ending March 31st 2007, Nintedo has released 6 million Wii game consoles.
